Alligator Bayou Renovated Rooms – At Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside

Walt Disney World is in the process of remodeling and upgrading all of the Alligator Bayou rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. We had the opportunity to tour the new Alligator Bayou rooms at Walt Disney World, recently right before our Disney cruise. About half the Alligator Bayou rooms are completed, with the intention that all the rooms at Port Orleans Riverside will be completed, soon.
Alligator Bayou (“cajun country”) at Port Orleans Riverside resembles the small cottages or villages found in the rural bayou regions of Southern Louisiana, featuring rustic, weathered-wood buildings (or Lodges) with quaint tin or tiled roofs landscaped with pines and iris. The bed-heads located in each room were hand-carved from hickory by a North Carolina woodworker hired by Walt Disney World specifically for the resort project.
Sixteen two-story Lodges, each containing 64 rooms, provide a total of 1,024 rooms in this section of the resort. Due to their smaller size, there are no elevators in any of the Alligator Bayou Lodges so if you experience any difficulties with stairs you should request a room on the ground floor.< /

Here is the main living room area.

Master Bedroom & Master Bathroom. Look at the great colorful dresser with the Nemo Theme. Fun, Fun, Fun.

There is a great themed play area for the kids outside the main pool area.  The pool is enclosed and will require your Key to the World Card to enter the pool area. The bridge will be open to Disney’s Pop Century to take a walk over there for a visit.

The Big Blue Pool is the largest on WDW property.  It is zero entry and you will be able to hear Crush talking under the water. How cool will that be to have the under water speaker system.  The kids are going to love that!

Look at the bright green carpet at the Food Court.

Arcade at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Kids will love this great Arcade with a little fun for everyone. Also check out the Sneak Peek of the New Cars Section still under construction.

Disney Dining Tidbits!

Disney Dining can be a bit confusing at times.  With the Disney Dining Plans it can make your experience a little better.  If you know how to take advantage of the perks.  Advance Disney Dining Reservations are a MUST for all Sit Down Dining Locations.  The earliest time to book your reservation is 180 days in advance.  There are Three plans to choose from – Disney’s Quick Service Plan, Disney’s Basic or Plus Dining Plan & Disney’s Deluxe Dining Plan.  They also include A Resort Refillable Mug for each registered guest.

Today’s Disney Dining Tidbit!

Would you  like to feel as if you just ate in a Sit Down Dining Location, when you actually were in a Counter Service Location.  I have the answer.  There are a few great Disney Dining Locations that will not leave you feeling like you just had fast food. So keep an eye out for my Disney Dining Tidbits!  My #1- Pick is located in Downtown Disney’s Marketplace.  This is a great location for your Arrival or Departure dates.  Wolfgang Puck Express-  Check out the Menu for this great location. With it’s Large Salads, Sandwiches, Pasta Dishes, A Fantastic Macaroni & Cheese along with Wood Fired Pizza this place should not be missed.  Hidden deep in the right hand corner of the Downtown Disney Marketplace. Don’t be surprised if you see a line.  Head right in and enjoy!  Place your order at the counter, they will give you a number to place on your table.  Just go take a seat and a server will bring your food to your table.  So it is Quick Service Location with the perks of Full Service Attention.   All of the portions are Dinner Size Portions.  Don’t miss the Creme Brule!  If you want it hot you can ask one of the servers not to bring it until your finished eating.  Same goes with the Frozen yogurt.
